It's fair to say Clemson Tigers backup quarterback Willy Korn has the best chance of earning the starting job for 2009. But there’s been a lot of press regarding new recruit Tajh Boyd, who many believe will push Korn as a true freshman.

Of course, to forget about the player whom Rivals believed was the 10th-best pro-style recruit of 2008 might be a mistake. We’re talking about Kyle Parker.

As a junior at Bartram Trail High in Jacksonville, Fla., Parker threw for 1,850 yards and 15 touchdowns. On top of that, he managed to rush for 700 yards and 12 touchdowns. The 6-footer also ran the 40-yard dash in only 4.6 seconds in high school.

In other words, he’s fast and can throw.

So far in college, Parker hasn’t gotten going on the football field. Of course, the same hasn’t been true of baseball. After all, he was a first-team freshman All-American in baseball this past season. Thus, he’s the kind of athlete the Tigers need to take a look at closely. Parker has the vision, accuracy and running ability to make the Clemson offense move.

Word is, he possesses escapability to the max.

It should be fun watching a bunch of talented Clemson QBs vie for a starting position as the '09 season approaches. Parker should be right in the mix of things. The negative on him is his size. But this isn’t the NFL, and someone’s height doesn’t determine whether he can be a good college quarterback.

Head coach Dabo Swinney is going to have a tough decision on his hands.
