The Clemson Tigers football team has not lived up to expectations over the past several seasons. There has been no questioning their talent. In fact, last season they were considered a very strong team before once again falling far short of their potential. Under such circumstances, the head coach of a team assumes the majority of the blame and rightfully so.

Thus, exit Tommy Bowden and enter Dabo Swinney. Now the question is: Can Swinney get the best out of his club on a consistent basis, something that Bowden was never truly able to accomplish? The bottom line: You can only glean so much information from one season, especially one during which the Tigers' quarterback situation is still up in the air. That said, Clemson once again will be fielding some very talented players. And when you look at its skill-position players, you see two things - size and speed.

Wide receiver Jacoby Ford is one of the fastest people in America, let alone football. So is running back C.J. Spiller.

How about projected starting wide receiver Xavier Dye, who's 6-foot-4? Take a look at his projected backup Brandon Clear, who is 6-5.

In the end, the Tigers will once again have oodles of talent at the skill positions. And if Kyle Parker or Tajh Boyd end up getting the nod at quarterback, all that will do is serve up another great athlete for the opposition to account for.

Thus, Swinney will have a stable of highly talented players to work with this year. If he can get the Tigers to jell, keep them motivated and consistent, and work through some new quarterback growing pains, this team should field a strong offense. Of course, that jelling and consistency thing is apparently easier said than done at Clemson.
