Just when you thought Clemson Tiger running back C.J. Spiller couldn’t become any more amazing, he dazzles everyone with a performance for the ages.

Not only did Spiller do his normal razzle-dazzle in the rushing department, racking up 97 yards and a touchdown he caught three passes for 48 yards including a score. But wait, there’s more! Spiller took a pitch out from quarterback Kyle Parker and tossed a seventeen yard touchdown strike into the waiting arms of wide out Xavier Dye.

For those keeping score at home, Spiller is now the only Tiger to ever run, pass and catch a touchdown all in the same game.

It was as if he was auditioning for his Heisman highlight reel and everyone watching was along for the ride. It’s not often football fans get to see a performance like this one and the Clemson faithful will certainly remember this one for a long time.

When asked about Spiller’s performance, Clemson coach Dabo Sweeney had this to say, "I'm just proud of C.J. -- another ho-hum day for him. I don't know how many other 'first evers' the guy can have."

If that’s ho-hum, imagine what this kid still has in the tank.

Often times when great players don’t make the cut on Heisman day, it’s due to not enough exposure, not enough relevant game film or simply not enough electric days in the cleats. Apparently, Spiller had all that in mind when he took the field on Saturday, trying his best to make sure he brought all that, and more, to the game.

With a few more performances like this, and a little luck, Spiller and his Tigers will get the national stage when they hit the Orange Bowl. As the old saying goes, great players rise to great games, and a bowl berth certainly qualifies as such.

There may be several quarterbacks in the Heisman mix at this stage, but it’s pretty apparent Spiller should be the only running back even in the conversation.
