True freshman Jacoby Ford is already making an impact on the Clemson Tigers' offense. In the first spring scrimmage of the year, Ford managed to pull in four catches for 103 yards and two touchdowns. Not bad for a youngster who was playing high school football just a few months ago.

Ford came to Clemson from Fork Union Military Academy in Virginia although he is originally from West Palm Beach, Florida. During his time at the academy, Ford was credited with 57 receptions for 1,254 yards and nine touchdowns. Ford was also a valuable asset at the running back position, where he carried the ball 12 times for 306 yards and three touchdowns. Ford is a budding track star and is the fastest player to ever graduate from Fork Union, according to his coach John Schuman.

If Ford can continue to learn the complex Tiger offense and make plays on the practice field, he has a great chance of earning a starting spot right away. That would pit him alongside fellow speedster Chansi Stuckey. This should be a scary thought for the opposition because with Ford and Stuckey holding down the wide receiver positions, the Clemson Tigers will be fielding one of the fastest wide receiver duos in the country.

Ford is looking to make a big impact on the ACC in his first season. And if the kind of spring he is having is any indication, he will certainly turn some heads in '06.
