Cal running back Justin Forsett broke off a 44-yard touchdown run with 2:42 remaining in the game to give the Golden Bears a 20-9 lead over the Washington State Cougars.

The Cougars answered with a quick score, but Cal recovered the ensuing onside kick to preserve the victory. Forsett ended up with 132 yards rushing to put him over 1,000 yards on the year. He became the sixth Cal running back to rush for more than 1,000 yards for the sixth straight season.

Commentary: Cal has already been eliminated from the Pac-10 title, and that has taken a lot of the shine off their home game with USC next week. Still, the Bears are motivated to knock the Trojans down another rung after suffering their own 3-game conference losing streak. The outcome of the Cal-USC clash will have a lot to do with where each team plays in the post-season.
