Virginia tailback Cedric Peerman will miss the remainder of the season due to a foot injury sustained during the second quarter of the team's October 6 game against Middle Tennessee State. Cavalier head coach Al Groh announced Peerman had surgery this past Wednesday.

Peerman was the ACC's leading rusher entering the MTSU game, racking up 585 yards and five scores in the little-over five games prior to injury.

Commentary: Although this is not good for 14th-ranked Virginia, the Cavs have been doing well in spite of Peerman's injury. Good news is, given he's a junior, Peerman should return next season along with quarterback Jameel Sewell and running back Mikell Simpson to make a formidable backfield threat.
