Kansas cornerback Aqib Talib and left tackle Anthony Collins announced they will pass on their senior seasons in Lawrence and enter the NFL draft.

"I talked to my family and to coach Mangino and we all decided that if I wanted to get better, it was time to take it to the next level," Talib said. "We had an excellent season and this is how I want to go out."

Talib led the Big 12 in passes defended last season with 17. He also broke up 13 passes and had five interceptions, two returned for touchdowns, and was named the Orange Bowl MVP.

Collins is one of the best offensive linemen in the nation and is a huge reason behind quarterback Todd Reesing's successful campaign that included breaking 20 school records.

Commentary: Losing one player is bad enough, but two at the same time is quite a hit. However, coach Mark Mangino has been building depth in the program, so the Jayhawks may be in good shape in 2008.
