Oklahoma prospects Jameel Owens and Stacey McGee, both of whom are from Muskegee High School, recently gave the Sooners a verbal commitment.

Owens, a 6-foot-3 receiver, is said to be the top recruiting prospect in the state. He caught 59 passes for almost 1,000 yards and 10 scores last season as a senior. Owens also played in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl earlier this month.

McGee, a 6-5, 255-pound defensive tackle, totaled 98 tackles and six sacks last season. Rivals rates the four-star McGee as the sixth-best defensive tackle in the nation.

Commentary: Having their team pick up two strong in-state recruits is good news for Sooners fans. This will help buffer the losses of cornerback Reggie Smith, receiver Malcolm Kelly and linebacker Curtis Lofton, all of whom bolted early for the NFL draft.
