Boston College quarterback Matt Ryan won the 2008 Manning Award. The award, created four years ago by the Sugar Bowl in honor of Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning, is presented to the nation's top collegiate quarterback.

"In an exceptional season for quarterbacks, Matt Ryan's performance rose above our most-talented class of finalists ever to win this year's award," the Manning patriarch said.

Ryan defeated nine other finalists, which included Florida's Tim Tebow (who took home the Maxwell and O'Brien in addition to the Heisman); Tennessee's Erik Ainge; Kentucky's André Woodson; Missouri's Chase Daniel; Oklahoma's Sam Bradford; Texas Tech's Graham Harrell; Hawaii's Colt Brennan; West Virginia's Pat White; and Oregon's Dennis Dixon.

Ryan also won the Johnny Unitas Award, presented to the nation's outstanding senior quarterback.

Commentary: With two awards under his belt, Ryan should go very high in this year's NFL draft. One thing that helped Ryan this past season is the team's success, which included the ACC's Atlantic Division title during an impressive 11-win campaign.
