Florida State University implemented a self-imposed two-year probation of its sports teams. The probation results from a widespread cheating scandal that rocked the school two months ago. It was reported that approximately 25 Seminole football players sat out last season's Music City Bowl against Kentucky because of it.

Since the scandal, two staff members have been fired and as many as 60 student athletes have had their eligibility revoked or will have it revoked. It was also rumored the cheating led to the departure of then-athletic director Mike Hart.

Commentary: Although this scandal was spread across a few sports, clearly this hits the football program the hardest. While the once-juggernaut program has been spiraling into on-field mediocrity a few short years now, it has been racked with controversy over the past year with not only the cheating, but also the departure of Hart, the bolting of quarterback Xavier Lee to the NFL, and so forth.

Not only is it time for coach Bobby Bowden to step down, but it's also time for president T.K. Wetherell to do the same. Assuming football is a priority in Tallahassee anymore.
