Since spring football 2008 has now come to a close for the Tigers, it would seem appropriate to look to the future. And, as well all know, recruiting is the future. So here’s a far ahead look at the three players that have already committed to the Auburn Tigers football team in 2009.

Terrence Coleman: Terrence Coleman is a 6-foot-1, 244 pound defensive end from Mobile, Alabama (Williamson High School) that runs the 40 yard dash in 4.8 seconds. That’s very good. Now here’s what’s great.

Coleman benches 385 pounds.

Many believe that Coleman will play inside at the collegiate level and just needs to put on some weight. Regardless, this three star prospect is athletic, explosive, and gives 100% on every play, so the future is his oyster.

Raymond Cotton: Raymond Cotton is a 6-foot-4, 216 pound dual threat quarterback from Mobile, Alabama (Faith Academy) that runs the 40 yard dash in 4.7 seconds and benches 315 pounds. In other words, he’s not one of those non- athletic quarterbacks that has to stand in the pocket.

This guy’s an athlete.

Along with this, last season he passed for 1,300 yards and 17 touchdowns with only six interceptions. Further, he rushed for 600 yards and eight touchdowns while leading his team to a state championship game.

Jamontay Pilson: Jamontay Pilson is a 6-foot-3, 265 pound strongside defensive end from Greenville, Alabama (Greenville High School) that runs the 40 yard dash in 4.9 seconds and bench presses 330 pounds.

Yup, that’s right: Everyone of these guys, even the quarterback, can press over 300. But what’s even better when it comes to Pilson is that he’s been a very productive high school player to the tune of 97 tackles and 12 sacks last season.

So when you put it altogether, Auburn’s 2009 recruiting class is off to a very good start. The trick will be to keep the commitments they already have while adding to them. But that’s the trick every year, now isn’t it?
