Somehow, West Virginia's Pat White doesn't seem like Playboy's kind of quarterback. He's too quiet, too self-effacing. It's hard to picture him with a cheerleader on each arm and a beer in each hand.

Nevertheless, that's whom the magazine (with or without consulting with Hugh Hefner) has chosen to quarterback its 2008 preseason All-America team. And according to the numbers, it makes sense -- in 2007, the 6-foot-2, 200-pound senior from Daphne, Ala., threw for 1,174 yards and 14 touchdowns and ran for 1,335 yards and 14 more scores.

White may not be hot, but he's exciting to watch. He's Michael Vick without the baggage.

"This is the highlight of my career so far," White said after returning from the photo shoot in Phoenix.

Of course, he was referring to the football accolades, not ... the other stuff.

Two other Big East players made the squad, including perhaps one of the smallest ever -- Cincinnati cornerback Mike Mickens, a 160-pounder who makes White look big. But just as pit bulls (sorry, Michael) are a lot more ferocious than their size would indicate, so Mickens manages to use those 160 pounds like a martial arts master. As a junior, he also picked off six passes and returned two of them for touchdowns.

Finally, there is South Florida DE George Selvie, the latest big-name pass rusher in the college ranks. Unlike stumpy recent predecessors Elvis Dumervil and Dwight Freeney, however, Selvie is 6-4, 245 and even more intimidating when he leaks into the backfield. Not only did Selvie lead the nation in tackles for loss last season with 31.5, but he posted 14.5 sacks and another 15 quarterback hurries.
