Alabama or Florida?: The Florida Gators have the best quarterback in the SEC and all the glitzy speed that teams covet. They’ve now beaten the Arkansas Razorbacks, LSU Tigers, Kentucky Wildcats, Georgia Bulldogs and Vanderbilt Commodores consecutively by a combined score of 243- 57. The Alabama Crimson Tide keep grinding other teams out in less convincing fashion, as it did in a 27-21 victory over LSU last Saturday. Of course, teams with stout defenses and mauling offensive lines tend to do pretty well in big games, do they not?

This would be one heck of a game if things play out in the conference championship. Speaking of that. . .

Alabama better not look beyond Mississippi State: There is no chance of the Tide looking past Auburn in the final game of the regular season; by now, Alabama is certainly aware of its biggest rival and how hard the Tigers will play in the Iron Bowl. That leaves the possibility of a letdown against Sylvester Croom’s squad. Mississippi State has defeated the Tide the last two seasons and tends to like games that look more like brawls.

This one could get interesting if Alabama doesn’t show up in the first half.

Speaking of the possibility of an upset, how about Florida versus South Carolina this weekend?: Steve Spurrier’s team has won its last two games. Further, when this 7-3 club has lost, it’s been only by a touchdown in every case. In other words, the Gators better expect a tough game against a coach who knows how to get things done in The Swamp.

Auburn finally wins: Sure it was only Tennessee- Martin, but the Tigers' first win in five games is cause for celebration. Solid quarterback play by Kodi Burns is another reason to give a toast.

Goodbye to Phil Fulmer: Say what you will about the guy, but he was a great coach during his long tenure at Tennessee. Still, it was clearly time for everybody to part ways. That said, getting a coach to right the ship for a club that just lost to Wyoming isn’t going to be easy.
