It has just been reported that Jacksonville State Gamecock quarterback Ryan Perrilloux has been suspended for the team’s 2009 season opener against Georgia Tech.

Wow…..not again. One would automatically think that when Perrilloux transferred to Jacksonville State after all of the disciplinary issues that he has had while at LSU would cease.

After all, he has all of the talent in the world, including the keys to a Rolls-Royce in the defending National Champion LSU Tigers, but gave them away by not handling his business off the field.

Ryan then transfers to Jacksonville State, where he had one of the school’s productive seasons in school history in his first full season as a starter in 2008. Word has it that he was suspended for a variety of reasons such as not going to class, missing team meetings and arriving late for team workouts.

One would automatically think that Perrilloux has learned anything from all of the stuff that went on at LSU in transferring to Jacksonville State, but the same type of issues have been recurring. If these problems persist, his NFL Draft status will drop even further.

Speaking of the NFL Draft, a lot hinges on how well Perrilloux does while he is with the Gamecocks. It has already taken some serious hits when was dismissed from LSU. Hopefully he will understand that his margin for error is extremely thin and it just got thinner.

Just think, had Perrilloux been able to play all of last year at LSU (minus the off-field issues), he probably would be looked at as one of the top quarterback prospects going into the 2010 NFL Draft. Now with this transgression amongst several others, that is very uncertain.

Let’s all hope that this should be the last time something like this is written about him. Hopefully Ryan will realize that he is too good of an athlete to let his athletic future to go down the drain.

The key word here is HOPEFULLY……..
