Last night was filled with upsets by two teams: In the Villanova Temple game, the Wildcats upset the Temple Owls 27-24. I know everyone will say "Well Temple sucks, so it shouldn't be an upset." Well it is rather you're a team like Michigan, or like Duke, a victory for a Division 1AA team over a Division 1A team is a big deal.
In another upset, the Mean Green of North Texas upset Ball St. 20-10 I thought Ball St. was going to come back to win that game when they tied it up at 10 apiece, but it didn't turn out that way. It's a big shot in the arm for North Texas who plays in the Sun Belt conference beating a team that went to the International Bowl last year.
Meanwhile last night in a game that I saw, South Carolina got an ugly win over the N.C. State Wolfpack 7-3. The only key factor in the game was when early in the 1st quarter, the wolfpack fumble the ball in their own territory in which South Carolina recovery the fumble, and scored with a touchdown pass from Steven Garcia. It was ugly beacuse both defense did a great job, but unfortunately the Wolfpack offense couldn't captialize. I'll have to see how Georgia does against Oklahoma St. before I can give you the readers my prediction on the South Carolina v Georgia game.
The Oregon Ducks lost two things last night: They lost to Boise St. 19-8, and they could lose LaGarrett Blount after he sucked pounch Roy Hout in the jaw after the game. To me I saw the punch over and over again while I waited to get my oil change this morning, and let me say this; If this was the real world, LaGarrett Blount would be in jail for assault and battery. The only reason this happen was because Roy Hout ran his mouth at LaGarrett, and slapped his shoulder pad. Okay Roy talking trash is one thing, but laying your hands on the opposing player after the game isn't very sportsmanlike.
If I was LaGarrett Blount, I would've done one of two things: I would have said "Yeah you got me!" or I would have simply walked away, and ignore it. That way I would've looked like a better man and Roy looked like an idiot, instead of ended up being a thug, and what's even worse he went after the fans.
I'm sure Roy Hout will learn his lesson, If he hadn't done so earlier this morning. I imagine he'll be spending tomorrow picking up trash on the campus grounds, or do extra laps around the football field to teach him a lesson. Meanwhile what bothers me about LaGarrett Blount is that he's a senior, and he should've known better than that.
Tough decision for Coach Kelley, he needs to suspend LaGarrett, If not kick him off the team, and If he doesn't, then I'm sure the AD will. Coach Kelley needs to set examples to his players in his program, and If he let LaGarrett Blount get away with murder, then that's a bad example for the Oregon Ducks.
