Tailgating starts tomorrow as well as all the trash talking about who has the better teams. Now the 1st week of college football does look kinda lame, but there were two upsets last night: Villanova beating Temple, and North Texas beating Ball St.. So wil there be anymore upsets this weekend? Maybe! But I wanna give you the readers my predictions on some key matchups for this 1st week of college football.
Georgia v Oklahoma St. both ranked in the polls, two years ago the Cowboys got blown out of Athens by the Bulldogs. This year is a chance for redemption for the Cowboys. I think this will be an excellent contest, and Georgia will leave Stillwater with a victory over the Cowboys 28-16.
BYU v Oklahoma at the new Cowboys stadium; I think it's an oximoron for this game to be played in Texas because of the hatred between Oklahoma and Texas. I think this will be a good game between the two starting quarterbacks Max Hill for BYU, and Sam Bradford for the Sooners. In the end I think it'll come down to experience and that's why I'm picking Oklahoma to beat BYU 35-27.
Alabama v Virgina Tech in the 2nd annual Chic Fil-a classic. This will be a hard nosed, smash mouth, fist down your throat match between these two teams. The disadvantage I give to Virgina Tech is the lost of their starting RB Darren Evans for the season because of a torn ACL. That beening said, it won't be a cake walk for Alabama either; they're not playing Clemson, they're playing the Hokies, and this will be a better game compare to last year. Both defense will be great, but Alabama his the edge on the offense, so I give it to Alabama 17-14.
California v Maryland, didn't these two teams play in the Emerald Nut Bowl last year? I smell an upset in this game, Maryland will upset California 31-13.
Those are my key games that I've made my predictions on, now I'll make one more prediction, and that's the Clemson v Mid Tennessee St. game. Clemson will win this game by the score of 35-13.
