Who can forget the punch heard around college football after the Boise St. Oregon game? Even though I only saw it the next morning while I was getting my oil change in Clemson, I've said before that LaGarrett should be punished for his action, and that it was classless, and tasteless. I appluaded Chip Kelly for suspending LaGarrett Blount for the rest of the season for punching Roy Hout in the jaw.
Now word that I got from Sporting News radio is that Coach Kelly is thinking about reinstating LaGarrett Blount is without a doubt the biggest mistake that Oregon will do. The thing that concerns me is that Coach Kelly isn't a man of his word, so how would I trust him as a human being If his word isn't gold.
Now don't get me wrong, people do deserve a second chance in life like Michael Vick, but as I recall, he didn't go back to the NFL till after he got out of prison, not while he was in it. I'm sorry that LaGarrett Blount is a senior, and that he may lose out on an oppurtinty of playing for the NFL; but instead of walking away from a loudmouth like Roy Hout like a real man, he acted like a child, and threw a right jab to the jaw. If Coach Kelly reinstates LaGarrett Blount, then it shows me that you can't take Coach Kelly for his word, and that his word is fool's gold.
If you were going to suspend him for 4 to 6 games then I can understand that, but If you're backing out on your orginal punishment of being suspended for the reason of the season, then what's the use of punishing people. This isn't a prison sentence where you're elgible for parole when you serve 85% of your sentence, this is college football.
I know that the Orgeon fans aren't going to be happy about the article, but I stand my ground. Coach Kelly and the AD of Oregon shouldn't even consider giving LaGarrett a second chance to play football for the Ducks, he had his chance, he blew it, so screw it, don't back down like a coward in the night, standby your punishment, and you'll have your respect for all the Duck fans.
