After 7 weeks of action their does not appear to be a clear-cut winner in either division. The Atlantic Division is a muddled mess. All teams have either 2 or 3 losses and everyone is still in the running for division champion. The current top dog in the Coastal Division officially is Virginia (that's right Virginia!). They are the only ACC team left without a conference loss. The reality is that Georgia Tech is tentatively in the driver's seat going forward after their victory over VA Tech last Saturday. However, Miami is waiting in the wings for another shot at the top spot. It is confusing to say the least but at least it won't be boring.

1. Georgia Tech 6-1 (4-1) beat Virginia Tech 28-23

The Yellow Jackets defeated the Hokies in a game in which their quarterback completed only 1 pass. He did, however, run for 122 yards and three touchdowns as Georgia Tech is now in the driver's seat in the Coastal division. Beware Yellow Jacket fans. This week's game has trap game written all over it.

Next game: @ Virginia (10-24)

2. Miami 5-1 (2-1) beat Central Florida 27-7

Jacory Harris was a very efficient 20 of 26 for 293 yards and a touchdown and the Miami defense stifled UCF. It's back to ACC action this week for the Hurricanes.

Next game: vs. Clemson (10-24)

3. Virginia Tech 5-2 (3-1) lost to Georgia Tech 28-23

Another one bites the dust in the race for the National Championship. Their defense held Georgia Tech to 37 rusing yards in the first half. Unfortunately they were worn down in the 2nd half and gave up 272 yards on the ground. Ryan Williams had another nice game gaining 105 yards for the Hokies.

Next game: vs. UNC (10-29)

4. Boston College 5-2 (3-2) beat NC State 52-20

Those pesky Eagles just won't go away. Montel Harris set school records with 264 rushing yards and 5 touchdowns. QB Dave Shinskie threw for 187 yards and 2 touchdowns as they thoroughly throttled the reeling NC State Wolfpack.

Next game: @ Notre Dame (10-24)

5. UNC 4-2 (0-2) was idle

The Tar Heels bring an offense that is ranked dead last in the conference against a Florida State defense that is ranked dead last. They also bring a defense that is ranked first in the conference to face a Florida State offense that is ranked first. Something's gotta give.

Next game: vs. Florida State (10-22)

6. Clemson 3-3 (2-2) beat Wake Forest 38-3)

CJ Spiller finally came to life offensively with 106 yards rushing and 2 touchdowns including a thrilling 66 yard scamper. The Clemson defense, which is currently ranked 2nd in the conference, harrassed Riley Skinner all day. They will need the same kind of defensive performance this week.

Next game: @ Miami (10-24)

7. Wake Forest 4-3 (2-2) lost to Clemson 38-3

The Deacons couldn't get anything going offensively against a swarming Clemson defense. This was the first time in 14 games that they failed to score a touchdown.

Next game: @ Navy (10-24)

8. Duke 3-3 (1-1) was idle

The Blue Devils got a well-deserved week off after an impressive run through the first half of their schedule. They should have a winning records after Saturday's meeting with a Maryland team that has lost 4 of 5 and is vulnerable against the pass.

Next game: vs. Maryland (10-24)

9. Virginia 3-3 (2-0) beat Maryland 20-9

The Cavaliers are now the only team in the ACC that has not lost a conference game. Virginia now has the 3rd ranked defense in the conference. They face a Georgia Tech team that has not won in Charlottesville since 1990 and is coming off an emotional win last week.

Next game: vs. Georgia Tech (10-24)

10. Florida State 2-4 (0-3) was idle

Which unit will decide the outcome of this week's game, the top ranked offense or the bottom ranked defense? It should be entertaining and at least someone will finally get a conference win.

Next game: @ UNC (10-22)

11. NC State 3-4 (0-3) lost to Boston College 52-20

Another conference beatdown but the difference was that this time they got beaten on the ground. The Wolfpack defense gave up 293 rushing yards and 187 passing yards in an embarrassing loss. They have a much needed week off to re-group.

Next game: @ Florida State (10-31)

12. Maryland 2-5 (1-2) lost to Virginia 20-9

Ralph Friedgen may have taken Al Groh's place as the coach with the hottest chair in the conference.

Next game: @ Duke (10-24)
