Soph. DB Ricky Cassidy (Edgewater, Md.) had a career-high 11 tackles and Soph. slot back Bryan Woolson (White Hall, Md.) ran a game-high 72 yrds, but it wasn't enough as SU dropped to #17 Hampden-Sydney College, 59-14 on Saturday afternoon at Lewis C. Everett Stadium. This was the first game between the two since October of 1990 and the first time the Gulls have played against an Old Dominion Athletic Conference opponent in the past 18 yrs.

The Sea Gulls (4-5, 1-1 Atlantic Central Football Conference) fell behind early as the Tigers (9-0, 4-0 ODAC) had the first five scores to go up 31-0. But despite the score, SU opened up the 2nd period with a pair of TD runs.

Sr DB Brandon Hudson (Delmar, Md.) got the SU offense started after he returned an HSC punt 33 yrds to set up a 29 yrd TD run by Woolson. Woolson would add another 29 yrd TD scamper to bring the Gulls to within 3 TD's by halftime.

The three touchdown margin was as close as SU got the rest of the way as HSC used an impressive offensive performance in the second half to run away with the victory.

Woolson rushed for 72 yrds on just five runs. SU was also aided by the performances of Soph. QB Kurt Purnell (Berlin, Md.) and Jr. super back Nick Coates (Huntingtown, Md.), who had runs of 31 and 29 yrds. The WR's caught only 5 passes, but were led by Soph. wideout Colin Lanham (Cambridge, Md.). who had one catch for 14 yrds.

SU D's were led by Cassidy's strong game as his game-high 11 tackles were his second consecutive double-digit tackle game. SU was paced by Jr. LB Justin Chura (Lothian, Md.) . Chura had nine tackles with Hudson (three pass breakups) picking up six of his own.
