Lot of moving and shaking went on last saturday with Kentucky's victory over Georgia in Athens for the first time since 1977; now with one week left, here's the latest SEC Bowl Projections:
1.Winner of the Florida/Alabama game- BCS Title game
2.Loser of the Florida/Alabama game- Sugar Bowl
3.Ole Miss- Capital One Bowl
4.LSU- Cotton Bowl
5.Georgia- Outback Bowl
6.Arkansas, Auburn, Kentucky, or Tennessee- Chick Fil-A Bowl
7.Arkansas, Auburn, Kentucky, or Tennessee- Music City Bowl
8.Arkansas, Auburn, Kentucky, or Tennessee- Liberty Bowl
9.Arkansas, Auburn, Kentucky, or Tennessee- Independence Bowl
10.South Carolina- Papajohns.com Bowl
With Mississippi St. lost to Arkansas, the Bulldogs falls out of the bowl contention, and South Carolina climbs back in the SEC Bowl Projection with a 3-5 conference record and 6-5 overall. Now 6-9 is a log jam because each team has 3-4 conference record which will change after this weekends game. At the least one team will go 4-4, on the other side of the spectrum 3 teams can ended up with 4-4 at the end of the weekend.
The Kentucky/Tennessee is a vital game for not only the tie-breaker, but for South Carolina as well. If Kentucky wins, Tennessee will go to 3-5, but will have a higher bowl seed than South Carolina because of their victory over South Carolina. However If Tennessee wins, they go 4-4, pole vault over Georgia in the Bowl Selection, and South Carolina's win over Kentucky will give South Carolina a chance to move to the Independence Bowl game.
It's confusing I know, but that what's so fun about my job as a sports writer.
