CBS Sportsline.com had a lot of praise for Pittsburgh Panthers quarterback Tyler Palko, touting him as a possible Heisman candidate. The junior quarterback received high praise in the online sports portal's inaugural 2005 college football magazine.

The University of Pittsburgh's season opener is still six weeks away, but Palko is already creating a national buzz.
The CBS Sportsline.com magazine article named Palko one of 12 preseason Heisman Trophy candidates and the Big East Conference's Most Valuable Offensive Player.

Palko threw for a Pitt 3,067 yards as a first-year starter last season. It was the most prolific season for a sophomore at the school. Palko averaged over 314 passing yards per game during his final five regular-season contests and threw 24 touchdowns and only 7 interceptions.

Tyler Palko also developed a reputation for making big plays late in games, engineering five victories in the fourth quarter or overtime last year. His most memorable performance came at Notre Dame when he threw five touchdown passes and guided the Pittsburgh Panthers to a pair of late scoring drives to upend the Irish, 41-38. He is the only quarterback to ever throw five touchdowns against Notre Dame. As luck would have it, the Panthers will open their first season under new head coach Dave Wannstedt with a highly anticipated encounter versus Notre Dame.
