August is upon us, which means that all across the country college football squads are starting to come together for fall practice. Freshman are being introduced to the college ranks, while sophomores and upperclassman are getting ready to battle for a starting spot or solidify their status as team leaders. Before you know it we'll be throwing around Heisman predictions and BCS complaints.

The upcoming college football season is filled with great matchups. However, every top tier team in the nation is setting their sites up at the USC Trojans. The young bucks over in central Los Angeles are going after their third national championship in a row, and they have the talent to do so! The Trojan players hit the practice field yesterday.

Down in Coral Gables, Florida the Miami Hurricanes reported to camp yesterday, but did not hit the practice field. As usual, they have national championship aspirations, but those dreams might be difficult to reach since they are starting a new quarterback this year. Kyle Wright will lead the offense this season and will be hard pressed to attain the same level of success that the last two Miami Hurricanes quarterbacks had in their first seasons at the helm, especially Ken Dorsey, who lost only one game in his first year as a starter.

Down in Norman, the Oklahoma Sooners hit the practice field on Thursday. They are still trying to figure out who the next quarterback will be. Whether its Paul Thompson or Rhett Bomar, the winner of the QB battle will have a hard time filling the shoes of the departing Jason White. However, the adjustment will be made a little easier by the fact the young QBs will have juggernaut running back Adrian Peterson in the backfield with them. The Oklahoma Sooners plan on taking this season one game at a time, but it's hard not to look ahead to a matchup with the Texas Longhorns on October 8th in Austin.

The Michigan Wolverines are thrilled to be coming into camp with their dynamic duo; QB Chad Henne and RB Michael Hart. The squad has not hit the practice field yet, but the players are poised for an outstanding season. Expect some extremely high stakes when the Michigan Wolverines face of against the Ohio State Buckeyes November 19th in Ann Arbor.

The Tennessee Volunteers hit the practice field for the first time yesterday. They have a wealth of talent on both sides of the ball. Senior RB Gerald Riggs will lead this team, but it's the young quarterbacks led by Eric Ainge that will catapult this team into the national spotlight. However the Tennessee Volunteers will have to run through a gauntlet of tough SEC rivals in order to get a shot at the national championship.

As the rest of the college football teams in the nation suit up for fall practice, anticipation for the oncoming season will hit a fever pitch. The good news is that we're less than a month away from first game of the season! The first big matchup with possible national championship implications will be when the Florida State Seminoles line up against the Miami Hurricanes on Monday, September 5th.
