This edition of the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets is very underrated heading into this season. Athlon is the only big college football magazine to rate them in the top 25. I really think Georgia Tech has a shot at being #3 in the ACC and getting back to another bowl game because of the experience that returns. They boast 14 returning starters.

QB Reggie Ball returns to the helm after throwing for 2147 yards, but was hurt by throwing 18 interceptions and only 16 touchdowns last year. Ball loses some receiving experience but luckily has top receiver Calvin Johnson, who was 1st team all ACC as a true freshman. Top running back PJ Daniels returns as well, as do the rest of the top rushers from last year. The only question mark in my mind will be a young and inexperienced O-line.

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets defense returns eight starters from last year, including 2nd team ACC LB Gerris Wilkinson who amassed 119 tackles and 4.5 sacks last year. Eight of the top nine tacklers return as well, so there is a lot of talent here. Last year's unit ranked 13th against the run and 12th overall in college football. I would call for another great showing on defense this season, but they may fall a bit in the defensive rankings.

Georgia Tech will lose some games this year, but I feel as though they will surprise some teams as well. They have a real shot at winning 6 of their 8 ACC games but their out-of-conference games against Auburn and Georgia will be very tough.
