Nick Saban did what he came to do at LSU and brought the Tigers a (split) National Title in 2003. Saban found a terrific NFL opportunity in Miami and coached his final college game with a loss to Iowa in the Capital One bowl.

In comes Les Miles, who did a fantastic job at Oklahoma State He was able to upset perennial Big 12 Oklahoma twice. Miles inherits a fantastic team and anything less than an appearance in the SEC title game will be a huge disappointment.

The running back corps is among the nation's best. Alley Broussard, Joseph Addai and Justin Vincent are all extremely talented and have the benefit of running behind a very solid O-line. QB JaMarcus Russell knows it's his team now and will look to build off the 1053 yards and 9 TDs he had last year. Miles' QB last season at Oklahoma State, Donovan Woods, is very similar to Russell so the new offensive schemes should fit well. In addition, all the top receivers return so Russell will have plenty of offensive weapons at his disposal.

The LSU Tigers defense returns seven starters from a team who ranked 3rd overall last season. Free Safety LaRon Landry led the team in tackles last year with 92, and nabbed 2nd team SEC honors. The defense should start all upperclassmen and should be very solid.

This LSU Tigers team doesn't look as good as the 2003 version, but should be good enough to meet their East counterpart in the SEC Championship game December 3rd.
