Last year the Texas Longhorns had a great run, finishing 11-1, ending with a Rose Bowl win against Michigan. Their only loss was to an Oklahoma team that made a National Championship appearance.

The offense is led by all around athlete Vince Young. He has really dedicated himself to the passing game and has turned into a solid leader on the field. The loss of 1867 yard rusher Cedric Benson will hurt, but Selvin Young is as talented and Vince Young isn't a bad rusher when he needs to be (1079 yards last year). The list of receivers isn't star studded, but there is a lot of talent all around. The offensive line is very talented and experienced, led by 1st Team Big 12 RT Justin Blalock.

The defense returns nine, but does lose LB Derrick Johnson to the NFL. The linebacking corps isn't as deep without Johnson, but does return 2nd Team Big 12 Aaron Harris, and shouldn't drop a whole lot in the rankings. 2nd Team Big 12 DT Rodrique Wright anchors what is a fantastic and experienced D-Line. The secondary is very experienced and should consist of all upperclassmen, including 1st Team Big 12 CB Michael Huff.

If Texas is ever going to beat Oklahoma this is the year to do it. They are capable of beating every opponent on the schedule and luckily face Ohio State early, so should they lose they have time to bounce back. Look for the Texas Longhorns to return to the top of the Big 12 this year. They may be packing for Pasadena in January.
