Last season, the Eastern Michigan Eagles boasted one of the most lethal offenses in the MAC, averaging 428 yards a game. Second-year coach Jeff Genyk's team will be aided by the return of standout quarterback senior quarterback Matt Bohnet and junior receiver Eric Deslauriers. Bohnet passed for 2192 yards last year, despite only playing half the season. Deslauriers had a fine 2004 year, catching 84 passes for 1252 yards and scoring 12 touchdowns. The Eagles will be calling on eight new starters to help turn around their poor defense, as they surrendered 470 yards per game a year ago in route to a 4-7 record.

The Cincinnati Bearcats rebounded nicely from a rough start in the 2004 campaign to post a winning record and a 32-14 win over Marshall in the Ft. Worth Bowl. The Bearcats' star quarterback Gino Guidugli has graduated, and coach Mark Dantonio must replace seven starters on offense as well as eight on defense. Redshirt freshman Dustin Grutza emerged from camp as the new signal-caller. A tough schedule awaits Dantonio and company as they begin their first year of play as a member of the Big East, where they have been picked to finish last by media outlets.

Cincinnati is favored in this game. The point spread is currently at 10.
