The Idaho Vandals are visiting the Washington State Cougars tonight. Kickoff is scheduled for 10:00 PM EST.

Washington State came crashing back down to earth after three straight 10 win season under the departed Mike Price. New head man Bill Doba struggled in leading his team to a 5-6 record, but gained some pride in closing last year by defeating in-state rival Washington in the annual Apple Cup. Quarterback Josh Swogger returns and Doba hopes to see more consistent play from his field general. Doba's job security will come under questioned if his defense doesn't show marked improvement, as they surrendered 367 yards per contest in 2004. Most of his front seven returns, but questions still linger in the secondary.

If recent history is an accurate barometer, the Vandals will once again be defeated by Washington State. But, at least they are only traveling eight miles to get there. Idaho struggles in their final season in the Sun Belt Conference, before their move to one closer to home, the WAC. In only his second season, head coach Nick Holt will field a young, but experienced bunch. Holt threw the youngsters out there last season and gave them some good on the job training. The Vandals are led by quarterback Michael Harrington, who has some nice bloodlines. His brother is Detroit Lions signal-caller Joey Harrington.

Washington State is favored heavily in this game. The point spread is currently at 27 ½.
