We talk about it every year...will a non-BCS team make it to a BCS Bowl? No one thought it would ever happen, but last year's Utah Utes team proved the critics wrong winding up with a Fiesta Bowl win over Big East champ Pittsburgh. So it's that time of year where we can look and wonder – who will be this year's Utah?

Miami (OH) – Losing a head coach is usually a tough transition for most teams, however when the replacement has been the offensive coordinator at the school for the past four years there won't be that much transitioning. The RedHawks are led by a solid passer in QB Josh Betts and have two stellar receivers in Ryne Robinson and Martin Nance. They also have a stout defense which returns two 1st team MAC stars in LB Terna Nande and DE Marcus Johnson. If they can pull out a miracle at the Horseshoe against Ohio State this team could be undefeated come November.

Bowling Green – You need national attraction to get the human element on board, and you need solid talent to attract the computer element. Bowling Green has both. QB Omar Jacobs is on nearly everyone's preseason Heisman watch list and deservedly so. He threw for over 4000 yards last year and had an amazing 41 TDs to just 4 INTs. This team is for real and their BCS hopes may come down to a showdown against the above mentioned Miami RedHawks on November 22nd.

Boise State – Last year Boise State went undefeated in the regular season and only made it to the Liberty Bowl. That was partly due to sub par scheduling which has been rectified this season. Out of conference games at Georgia and at Oregon State will be tough, but they aren't impossible. Should SR QB Jared Zabransky lead this experienced Boise State team to victories in those matchups they may be knocking on the BCS door.
