Can Georgia finally get a measure of revenge against former Florida nemesis and current South Carolina head coach and Steve Spurrier? They have the opportunity this Saturday as the Gamecocks travel to Athens for an early season SEC clash against the South Carolina Gamecocks. Game time is 5:30pm.

The Georgia Bulldogs have been a powerhouse under current head coach Mark Richt, who has led the Bulldogs to wins in 35 of their last 41 games and three straight Top 10 finishes. That said, this team may be the best one Richt has had yet. They dominated 18th ranked Boise State on September 3rd, gaining 577 yards in a 48-13 win over the Broncos. The unquestioned star of the show was senior QB D.J. Shockley, who threw for five touchdown passes and ran for a sixth in the easy victory. His performance also included 289 yards passing and 85 yards rushing, as Georgia led Boise State 38-0 at one point in the second half.

Spurrier, who posted a career record of 11-1 against the Bulldogs while walking the sidelines at Florida, had South Carolina playing inspired offensive football in a 24-15 season opening win over the UCF Golden Knights. Leading the way was sophomore QB Blake Mitchell, who completed 18 of 23 pass attempts for 330 yards and a trio of touchdowns. Yet there are concerns with a defense that allowed 344 yards of total offense to Central Florida. How will they hold up against Shockley and the NCAA's third-ranked passing offense? The Gamecocks certainly need to improve, as they enter the contest ranked 44th in the country in total defense.
