The Maryland Terrapins gave the Clemson Tigers all they could handle, but fell short in the end 28-24. The Terrapins were actually winning by 10 points going into the fourth quarter, but allowed Clemson to come roaring back. Reggie Merriweather sealed the deal with a 38-yard TD run with 2:58 remaining in the game.

The Maryland Terrapins offense put up solid numbers, but could not come through late in the game when it mattered most. The defense also collapsed late in the game after keeping stifling the Tigers offense for most of the game.

Quarterback Sam Hollenbach was 18 of 28 for 288 with two touchdowns and one interception. Wide receiver Vernon Davis had a breakout game, catching six passes for 140 yards and a touchdown in a losing effort.

The defense played well until their fourth quarter collapse. They failed to create a turnover all afternoon long.
