The Akron Zips fell to the Purdue Boilermakers 49-24. The Zips managed to keep the game close into the fourth quarter, but gave up three touchdowns in final quarter.

Quarterbacks Luke Getsy and Brett Biggs combined for well over 300 yards passing. Getsy was 26 of 46 for 287 yards and two touchdowns. Biggs threw just one pass that just happened to be an 80-yard touchdown strike to Jason Montgomery. Biggs added 42 rushing yards on 10 carries. He was the team's leading rusher.

The Akron Zips defense did force one turnover (1 FUM), but gave up nearly 500 yards of total offense. They completely collapsed in the fourth quarter and allowed the game to slip out of reach.
