The Oklahoma Sooners posted their first win of the season on Saturday as they knocked off the Tulsa Golden Hurricane 31-15. The 18th-ranked Sooners are now 1-1 on the year.

Early on it looked as though the Sooners would suffer their second upset in a row. Their offense, headed up by redshirt freshman QB Rhett Bomar, was largely ineffective in the first half. Oklahoma headed to the locker room with a precarious 7-6 lead at intermission. Things looked even worse when Tulsa hit a 19-yard field goal with 5:36 left to play in the 3rd quarter to take the lead 9-7.

But then the Sooners' star running back Adrian Peterson took over the ball game. He racked up a whopping 220 yards on 32 attempts, gaining 180 of those yards in the second half. Peterson found the end zone three times today, including a 41-yard run late in the 4th quarter that pretty much put the game away for Oklahoma. Linebacker Clint Ingram then sealed the victory with a 48-yard interception return for a touchdown with 0:03 seconds left on the game clock.

The Oklahoma Sooners will face UCLA on the road next week.
