The 7th-ranked Hokies are on a roll to start the season after posting their second consecutive victory over an ACC foe with a 45-0 shutout of the Duke Blue Devils.

The Virginia Tech defense was the story of this game. They displayed nothing short of pure domination as they held the hapless Blue Devils offense to a mere 35 total yards on the day, 20 of those coming in the form of rushing yards from QB Curt Dukes. The Hokies also saw some impressive play from sophomore CB Roland Minor, who stepped in front of an errant pass and returned it 23 yards for a touchdown to give Virginia Tech a 14-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Junior QB Marcus Vick was once again Virginia Tech's offensive leader. He went 12-of-19 for 172 yards with 3 touchdowns in just 3 quarters of play as he flawlessly executed the Hokies game plan. Vick jump-started the scoring when he hooked up with TE Jeff King for a 7-yard TD to cap a 7-play, 57-yard drive on Virginia Tech's second possession. He also connected with wide receiver David Clowney and Josh Morgan for two longer scores of 37 and 35 yards. Mike Imoh led the rushing attack with 66 yards, and Brandon Ore added 51 of his own, plus a TD.

The Virginia Tech Hokies are now 2-0 in ACC games. They will have their home opener next week when they play host to Ohio.
