The Iowa State Cyclones pulled off an improbable upset over in-state rival Iowa 23-3. The game was never really in contention. In fact, the 8th ranked Hawkeyes never held a lead in this game.

The Iowa State defense made their presence felt early. They knocked out quarterback Drew Tate during an interception return by Steve Paris in the second quarter. The Lemarcus Hicks proceeded to intercept Tate's replacement Jason Manson and took the ball in for a score in the final seconds of the second quarter.

Offensively, the Iowa State Cyclones were led by running back Stevie Hicks. He rushed for 118 yards on 28 carries. Quarterback Bret Meyer was 14 of 24 for 153 yards with one touchdown pass to WR Austin Flynn and one interception. WR Todd Blythe added five receptions for 76 yards.
