The Georgia Bulldogs struggled throughout, but eventually upended Steve Spurrier and the South Carolina Gamecocks 17-15. The game was still in contention in the waning minutes of the fourth quarter when the Georgia defense forced South Carolina to turn the ball over on downs. The Bulldogs were then able to run out the clock to secure the victory.

Georgia Bulldogs quarterback D.J. Shockley, who had a huge game in his first start last week, struggled mightily. The senior signal caller started the day off hot, running for an acrobatic 15-yard touchdown, but did little else the rest of the day. He ended up 8 of 17 for 111 yards and threw two interceptions, including one that was returned for a touchdown. Shockley also had 10 rushes but could muster only 30 yards on the ground.

It was Thomas Brown that carried the Bulldogs offense on this day. He rushed for 146 yards and one touchdown on just 20 carries. Georgia seemed to shoot itself in the foot all day long with ill-timed turnovers and dumb penalties.

The Georgia defense was hard hitting as usual but had a lot of trouble containing Steve Spurrier's passing attack. South Carolina QB Blake Mitchell threw for nearly 250 yards and a touchdown, although he was also picked off twice.
