The Florida Gators and head coach Urban Meyer hosted the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs in Gainesville this evening. Ultimately for the Gators it just seemed to be another warm up game for next weeks match up with Tennessee. Florida dominated almost every aspect of this 41-3 thrashing and there were very few, if any, good things happening for Louisiana Tech.

The games biggest surprise was the outstanding performance of the Gators defense. Florida made its name by running up scores, so it was a nice change to see the defense dominate, holding Louisiana Tech to only 116 yards passing and 50 yards rushing on the day. The Gators logged 2 sacks and 3 interceptions against Louisiana Tech's pair of
senior quarterbacks, Matt Kubik and Donald Allen.

DeShaun Wynn had a standout performance at running back after sitting out last week. Wynn piled up 101 yards on 15 carries, which works out to a very hefty average of 6.7 yards per carry. Florida quarterback Chris Leak and wide receiver Chad Jackson teamed up for the games biggest play when they hooked up on an 80 yard touchdown pass in
the 3rd quarter. Jackson, a junior, had 5 receptions for 106 yards on the day. Chris Leak didn't put up the huge numbers one might expect in a game like this, but he was relatively efficient and had decent numbers, finishing the night with 219 yards passing and a pair of touchdowns.

The Florida Gators' strong defensive play had them starting with great field position most of the night so the drives were usually pretty short, so Leak and the guys didn't pile up the gaudy numbers I know Gator Nation had hoped for. Redshirt freshman running back Marcus Manson gave Gator fans a taste of the future, running up 69 rushing yards on only 10 carries. Manson was just one of many bright spots for the Gators, and one thing is certain, there is a lot to be happy about in Gainesville tonight.
