The Nebraska Cornhuskers defense forced four Wake Forest turnovers on the way to a convincing 31-3 victory Saturday night at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln. The Cornhuskers are now 2-0 on the season, while the Demon Deacons slipped to 0-2.

Nebraska was all over Wake Forest QB Ben Mauk right from the beginning. Huskers' linebacker Corey McKeon halted the Demon Deacons' second drive by intercepting a Mauk pass at the Wake Forest 38-yard line and returning it for a touchdown. Two possessions later, Nebraska safety Daniel Bullocks stripped the ball from RB Micah Andrews, scooped it up, and ran it back for a 30-yard TD to make it a 14-0 ballgame with 2:45 left to play in the first quarter.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers offense finally chipped in early in the third quarter. Senior RB Cory Ross broke free for a 58-yard gain that put the ball inside the Wake Forest 10-yard line. Three plays later, QB Zac Taylor found wide receiver Frantz Hardy in the end zone with a short 4-yard pass to cap the 7-play, 80-yard scoring drive. Taylor went 14-of-33 on the day, for 114 yards and one interception to go with his TD. Ross finished up with 123 yards on 20 carries.

Any hopes that the Demon Deacons had for a fourth-quarter comeback were erased when Nebraska LB Stewart Bradley picked off another Mauk pass and ran it in from 43 yards out for another defensive score.

Next up for the Cornhuskers is a home game against Dave Wannstedt's struggling Pittsburgh Panthers (0-2) team.
