In an exciting finish, the No. 2 Texas Longhorns defeated No. 4 Ohio State Buckeyes 25-22 Saturday night in the much-anticipated first ever meeting between these two storied programs.

The Longhorns, down 22-16, scored the go-ahead touchdown with 2:00 minutes left in the fourth quarter when quarterback Vince Young hit receiver Limas Sweed on a 24 yard pass in the corner of the end zone. Ohio State had a chance for a last minute drive, but those hopes were dashed when quarterback Justin Zwick was stripped of the ball and the Longhorns recovered on the 20 yard line. The Buckeyes held the Longhorns out of the end zone but on their ensuing possession, quarterback Troy Smith was sacked for a safety that preserved Texas' victory.

Quarterback Vince Young, who is best known for his highlight-reel runs, won the game tonight with his arm. Unlike last season's Rose Bowl victory in which Young ran all over the Buckeye defense for 192 yards, tonight he only managed 74 yards on 20 carries. However, it was Young's passing that did the damage. He finished the game 18-of-29 for 272 yards and two touchdowns. His best target of the night was receiver Billy Pitman who led all receivers with 132 yards on 5 receptions.

With tonight's victory over Ohio State, Young has already stamped his name on the ballot for the Heisman Trophy. With Texas set to face off against a sub-par Rice team next Saturday, look for Young to have yet another solid performance.
