Sam Keller and the Arizona State Sun Devils poured on the passing, but fell short against and inspired LSU team 35-31. The Sun Devils were up by double digits in the fourth quarter, but multiple special teams miscues and a magical 4th and 10 touchdown pass by JaMarcus Russell proved to be their undoing.

Keller had an amazing night passing the football. He threw for 461 yards and four touchdowns on 35-56 passing against the 5th ranked Tigers. His top receiver was Derek Hagan, who caught seven passes for 95 yards, but Keller spread the ball nine different receivers. Three different players caught touchdown passes including Jamaal Lewis who caught a pair of TDs.

The Arizona State defense held the Tigers in check for most of the game, but did get a bit soft towards the end of the game. They gave up nearly 200 yards rushing and nearly 250 yards passing, but it was the special teams unit that lost this game. They had both a punt and a field goal blocked and returned for touchdowns, all in the 4th quarter! If it wasn't for those miscues, the Sun Devils could have easily coasted to victory.
