According to Oklahoma Sooners head coach Bob Stoops, he has not decided whether his star running back Adrian Peterson will start, or even play, after skipping class and being suspended from practice earlier this week.

Adrian Peterson's suspension was a result of a new policy implemented by the OU athletic department, which states, players who accumulate four unexcused absences from class are suspended from practice for two days, and are barred from competing in the next game upon any subsequent absences.

The Heisman Trophy candidate was held out of practice on Monday and Tuesday, just days after rushing for 220 yards and three touchdowns in the Sooners 31-15 win over Tulsa on Saturday. They play their first road game of the year this weekend at UCLA.

The suspension comes on the heels of starting quarterback Rhett Bomar being cited for possession of alcohol by a minor only nine days earlier. Bomar is a red shirt freshman and Adrian Peterson is beginning his sophomore season, after an outstanding freshman campaign, in which he gained 1,925 yards and scored 15 touchdowns.

Stoops has endorsed the new policy, saying that his players are here to go to school and attend class first and foremost, and it's the responsibility of the coaching staff (himself included) and administrators to make sure they are doing so.
