The Boston College Eagles long road to joining the Atlantic Coast Conference begins formally this week with the team's first ever game as a member of the conference - and what an opener it is.

The Eagles play host to the Florida State Seminoles, the team that has dominated the ACC football landscape over the years. The 2005 edition of the Seminoles is no exception. Undefeated, Florida State currently ranks 8th in the country and the team already owns a victory over number 13 Miami.

But the 17th ranked Boston College Eagles should be ready for this one. Having given up just one touchdown in two games, the Eagles have thrashed both Brigham Young and Army by a combined 64-10. The offensive and defensive balance of the 2005 Eagles leads many to believe that Boston College is a true challenger for the ACC title.

The two key aspects for BC - the team must have offensive balance, be able to run the ball successfully enough to set up their strong passing game led by red shirt senior quarterback Quinton Porter. Boston College must also somehow offset the Florida State speed, both on offense and defense. As usual, FSU is loaded with athletes on both sides of the ball.
