These two unbeaten programs have, in effect, been operating in parallel universes this season. The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets' two victories have come over Auburn and North Carolina. The Connecticut Huskies has beaten Buffalo and Liberty.

Randy Edsall's Huskies won't be awed by their visit to ancient Grant Field on Saturday (6:45 p.m.), however. Despite its relatively new Division 1-A status, UConn has proven itself competitive in the Big East and is 2-3 in recent years against Atlantic Coast Conference opponents. Running backs Terry Caulley and Cornell Brockington are pro prospects, and QB Matt Bonislawski earned Big East Offensive Player of the Week honors for his play against Liberty.

The Yellow Jackets of Chan Gailey snapped Auburn's 15-game winning streak, 23-14, in their opener and got a career-high 320 passing yards from QB Reggie Ball last Saturday in a 27-21 victory over an improving University of North Carolina squad. RB P.J. Daniels rushed for over 100 yards in both games, OT Brad Honeycutt is a beast who had 14 knockdown blocks against Auburn.

One question mark for UCONN is whether its young offensive line will be able to make room for Caulley and Brockington against an active Georgia Tech defense. And while winning does, indeed, breed winning, it remains to be seen if the Huskies can bridge the competitive gap between their previous opposition and a team ranked No. 16 in the country.

The teams met last year, with Georgia Tech coming out on top, 30-10.
