The game was close early as the Broncos took a 6-0 lead to end the first quarter. Bowling Green responded with a touchdown early in the second quarter to take a 7-6 lead, but the Broncos took the lead back seconds later with a 57-yard kick return by Lee Marks to make it a 13-7 game. Boise State then scored five straight touchdowns to put the game out of reach.

The Boise State Broncos were led by the steady arm of Jared Zabransky and an overpowering stable of runners. The Broncos ran the ball an amazing 60 times and ground up 314 rushing yards. Lee Marks and Ian Johnson led the way, both rushing for just under 90 yards on the night. Zabransky added 53 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns to go with 18 of 27 passing for 216 yards and one touchdown.
