On what turned out to be a soggy night in Starkville, thanks to the effects of Hurricane Rita, Georgia Bulldogs quarterback D.J. Shockley turned in the best passing performance of his career to lead his team over Mississippi State 23-10.

Shockley passed for 312 yards in his first ever road start with two touchdowns. After Mississippi State grabbed an early 7-0 lead, Shockley and his Bulldogs answered with a five play, 75-yard drive capped by a 28-yard score to running back Danny Ware.

With 5:11 remaining in the first half, he again tossed another score, this time to Leonard Pope. Georgia took a 14-7 lead into the locker room at halftime. Shockley ended up completing passes to 12 different players.

The Georgia Bulldogs gradually pulled away in the second half, thanks to three field goals from kicker Brandon Coutu. The Bulldog defense sacked Mississippi State quarterback Omarr Conner three times and intercepted him once, as they allowed only 256 of total offense on the night.

The Georgia Bulldogs have a bye week coming up, before hitting the road to face SEC East rival Tennessee on October 8th.
