In an in-state battle, the Cincinnati Bearcats head up to Oxford to take on the Miami of Ohio RedHawks on Wednesday evening. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 PM EST.
Maybe the Cincinnati vs. Miami of Ohio rivalry doesn't have the name recognition of Florida State vs Miami or Ohio State vs Michigan, but ask anyone familiar with these two schools and they'll tell you it doesn't get more intense than when these two squads meet up.

The 1-2 Miami of Ohio RedHawks will be looking to avenge a 45-26 loss last year and are led into battle by quarterback Josh Betts. The sophomore leads a passing attack that is currently ranked 13th nationally, as he is completing 57.5 % of his throws for 896 yards with six touchdowns and only two interceptions.

After coming up short in their first two games, Miami rebounded with an impressive road victory over Kent State 27-10 on September 17th. In that game, freshman running back Brandon Murphy emerged as a ground threat with 172 yards on 31 carries and one score.

The Cincinnati Bearcats have a good, young signal caller of their own in freshman Dustin Garza. After red shirting last season, he has emerged as an adequate replacement for standout Gino Guidugli. In the Bearcats first three outings, he is completing 55 % of his throws for 545 yards with 3 touchdowns and three interceptions.

He did struggle in his last start vs. Western Carolina, but the defense rose to the occasion as Cincinnati posted a 7-3 victory to move to 2-1. Coach Mark Dantonio will need another big effort from his defense on Wednesday night. The Bearcats hope to end non-conference play on a positive note, as they begin their first season in Big East play next week.
