The LSU Tigers and Mississippi State Bulldogs will square off in
Starkville Saturday afternoon. Neither team has fared well in SEC play
this year, both are looking for their first conference win. The Tigers
have won five in a row over the Bulldogs in very convincing fashion
including a 51-0 spanking last year in Baton Rouge, so it looks like LSU
coach Les Miles will most likely get that elusive first SEC win that
somehow managed to slip away last week against Tennessee. Of course
nothing is guaranteed, but the Tigers are loaded with the premium
five-star athletes like QB JaMarcus Russell that Sylvester Croom and his budding Bulldogs program
still have to dream about.

The superior talent of the LSU defense will be looking for some major
improvements after allowing an average of 30.5 points and 440 yards of
offense in their first two games. Mississippi State's offense does
not seem to match up well with any of the top SEC defenses, scoring a
combined total of 10 points in two conference games thus far against
Georgia and Auburn.

Bulldogs senior running back Jerious Norwood needs to use this game to
prove he can be effective against good defensive teams. His numbers on
the year have been decent with 304 yards rushing in 4 games, however
Auburn held him to only 39 yards and Georgia held him to only 43 yards.
A good outing against a tough defense could help shake his reputation of
not playing well in big games.

LSU Tigers senior running back Joseph Addai put up 84 yards on only 16 carries
against a very talented Tennessee defense and looks to scorch the
inferior Bulldogs defense this week.

Almost everyone expects LSU to win this game due to their physically
superior talent but don't think Mississippi State has that in their
heads. This is an SEC home game for the Bulldogs and their fans expect
nothing less than a win so look for Croom to have his soldiers ready to
fight.
