The Notre Dame Fighting Irish continue their incredibly difficult opening schedule as they head to Ross Ade Stadium in West Lafayette, Indiana, to take the in-state-rival Purdue Boilermakers.

For the Fighting Irish it will be their fourth game on the road in five contests and their fourth game against a team that at one time or another has been ranked in the top 25 of the Associated Press Poll in 2005. Purdue fell to number 22 after losing in overtime a week ago at Minnesota.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish have been outstanding on offense all season. Sophomore running back Darius Walker is has already done what no other Notre Dame running back has ever accomplished, rushing for at least 100 yards in each of the first four games of the season. Walker currently ranks 17th in the nation in rushing with 112 yards per game.

Notre Dame Quarterback Brady Quinn is also having a masterful start to the season under new coach Charlie Weis. The youngster has 145 QB rating, having completed nearly 62% of his pass for ten touchdowns against just two interceptions.

The Purdue Boilermakers have also proven they can also score points, averaging more than 38 a game. Like the Irish, the Boilermakers offense is very balanced as well. Quarterback Brandon Kirsch is throwing for more than 200 yards per game and has a solid rating of 125. Purdue also sports two running backs, Jerod Void and Kory Sheets, averaging better than 5 yards a carry while rushing for more than 400 yards on the season.

It has all the makings of a high scoring game as both team's defenses have proven to be suspect at times.
