Despite the 38-28 final score, this wasn't quite the full-scale shootout that most people expected. For the second straight week, No.1 USC got off to a slow start and looked very beatable through two quarters of play. Last week, Oregon led by 13 points in the second quarter; this week, The Arizona State Sun Devils took a 21-3 lead into halftime and it looked like the Trojans' 25-game win streak was in serious jeopardy.

But the USC Trojans stormed right back in the third quarter. They marched 80 yards down the field in just 2:19 on their first possession. The drive was capped off by a 32-yard TD run from junior RB LenDale White to make the score 21-10. White would finish the game with 197 yards and 2 TDs.

After a three-and-out from the Sun Devils, the Trojans got the ball back and were looking for another quick score. But a Dwayne Jarret fumble gave the Sun Devils the ball in USC territory. It was a prime opportunity for ASU to stop the Trojans' momentum and add to their lead. But QB Sam Keller threw an interception on the very first play of the drive, and less than a minute and a half later, the Trojans were celebrating a 24-yard TD run from Reggie Bush. Bush racked up a total of 158 rushing yards in the game.
