The USF Bulls (3-2, 1-0 Big East) succumbed to the University of Miami (3-1, 1-1 ACC) by a score of 27 to 7 at the Orange Bowl in a primetime showdown that didn't live up to its billing.

At least the Hurricanes defense showed up to play, holding South Florida to 176 yards and a touchdown in the late stages of the game. The Bulls were only able to generate 104 yards on 42 carries but only completed 11 of 31 passes for 72 yards and 4 interceptions.

The Hurricanes offense struggled to show any consistent efficiency, laboring to convert on great field position. UM went into halftime with a 20-0 lead behind 2 Tyrone Moss first-half touchdowns. Quarterback Kyle Wright finished the evening with 13-26 with 167 yards and an INT. The Hurricanes receivers again failed to make any big plays to open up things for the young signal-caller. TE Greg Olsen had a huge catch negated when Carlton Hill punched the ball out from under his arms, right before he crossed the end zone.

USF entered on a high note after the 45-14 thrashing of fellow former Conference USA and new Big East member Louisville. The defense did all it could to stymie the Canes bruising running game. They were able to "limit" Moss to 91 yards on 22 carries, but allowed 3 TDs in the redzone.

Starting QB Pat Julmstice struggled behind center, passing for 49 yards on 8 of 25 passing while sharing snaps with the equally-ineffective Courtney Denson. RB Andre Hall led all Bulls' rushers with 56 yards on 19 carries.
