It is time to acknowledge that the Notre Dame Fighting Irish have a Heisman candidate.

Behind emerging star Brady Quinn's 440 yards passing, Notre Dame rolled up more than 600 yards of total offense in pounding 22nd ranked Purdue in West Lafayette, 49-28. With Quinn picking apart the Boilermakers secondary, Notre Dame opened up a 28-0 halftime lead and cruised despite Purdue's 28 second half points.

Quinn completed more than 80% of his throws, going 29-36, and spread the ball around to seven different receivers. Maurice Stovall caught 8 passes for 134 yards while Jeff Samardzjia hauled in 7 passes for 153 yards and two touchdowns.

The Purdue Boilermakers finally got its offense on track in the second half as the team went to four wideouts and its spread offense. The Boilermakers scored on their opening drive of the second half and would move the ball at will through the final two quarters. But a key end zone interception kept Purdue from ever getting closer than 21 points despite rolling up 500 yards of their own.

Quarterback Brandon Kirsch finished with 274 yards passing while wide out Dorien Bryant had a career-high 14 catches for Purdue.
